Are you searching for a provider administering sedation dentistry near Nashua, New Hampshire? Look no further than Smiles by Stylos Dental Health & Sleep Center, a trusted practice that’s been serving the Greater Merrimack Valley since 1987.

What Types of Dental Sedation Do We Offer?

At Smiles by Stylos, we strive to provide a highly personalized care experience for patients in Nashua and beyond. With that in mind, we offer two forms of sedation dentistry—nitrous oxide sedation and oral conscious sedation—and we can recommend the one that’s right for you.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide sedation helps calm dental anxiety by altering pain and pleasure receptors. If we determine that you’re a candidate for this type of sedation dentistry, we’ll place a mask over your nose that will administer a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen. Within just a few minutes, you should begin experiencing a euphoric sensation. Then, once your treatment is complete, we’ll start administering pure oxygen instead. Patients typically don’t experience grogginess after receiving nitrous oxide sedation, so you should be able to drive yourself home from our office.

Oral Conscious Sedation

This type of sedation dentistry causes patients to feel groggy, with many individuals falling asleep during treatment. If you’re a good fit for oral conscious sedation, we’ll prescribe you medication that you’ll need to take by mouth prior to your appointment. Because the resulting grogginess often takes several hours to wear off, you should plan to have a friend or family member drive you home from our office.
